Not updated my blog in a while so thought i’d post some of the current images i’m working which are both at early stages with plenty of proportional and various other mistakes at the moment. The first is Antony for my FMP and the other based on Chiaroscuro based composition for this months ImagineFX community competition.

So not long ago i began work on my final pieces and after a bit of a stumble i’m well on my way to creating all 5 of my final pieces for the project. I began with Cleopatra since it seemed like the most challenging piece to nail down due to her complex characteristics and i wanted to get personify her beauty and power, pretty difficult as it turns out but hoping i’ve managed to capture those aspects with her location and appearance.

Decided I would like to create a logo for my FMP to make the presentation of the project a lot more collective and professional. My aim was to create a futuristic but not overly complicated logo that could also be extended so it would feature alongside other information about the pieces.  Here’s the logo on its own.

Been a while since i last posted anything on my blog but here’s some idea’s for Antonys appearance. I want to make sure he looks like he’s a commander and a political figure through his armor/outfits appearance. Taking inspiration from real Roman armors and outfits and trying to put a futuristic spin on their styling.

So I hope everyone had a great Christmas but its back to work for moi. Been working on a final design for Cleopatra, a character sheet of sorts. The final piece for her and the rest of characters will be placed in their own scenes at a later date but i thought it’d be a useful exercise to practice making a clear character design illustration of the figure alone first.

I’ve used no reference for her actual appearance, only used reference for the tonal ranges and light direction to help. Concept designers and Illustrators who design characters seem to rarely use reference for the faces unless its based on a real life person. So i thought i’d try it myself and create her face from scratch and so far i’m pretty pleased with the way its going.

Here’s also a little warm up pencil drawing too, since i haven’t used pencil to render anything in a while..
